Garvan Woodland Gardens, a department of the University of Arkansas School of Architecture, is located on a 210-acre peninsula on Lake Hamilton.
Surrounded by 4 1/2 miles of shoreline, the Gardens' sculpted landscape includes hundreds of thousands of native plants, tranquil water features, as well as seasonal plantings, such as daffodils by the thousands in late February, followed closely by more than 100,000 tulips in late March and early April.
During the holidays, bulbs of a different kind take center stage, when 1.7 million twinkling lights transform approximately 15 acres into a whimsical winter wonderland through December 31.
The Gardens are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the month of January.
